Dean Wong: Made in Chinatown, USA
June 7 - September 6, 2018 A collection of photographs by acclaimed photographer Dean Wong, Made in Chinatown, USA documents the vibrancy, beauty, and pride of Chinatown and its people.

Dean Wong is a second-generation Chinese American born and raised in Seattle's Chinatown-International District. His career began in the 1970s with the International District Emergency Center, a grassroots neighborhood services organization: “I photographed meetings, did portraits, went to community celebrations, and roamed the streets of Chinatown looking for anything that caught my eye.”

As described by art historian and writer Maurice Berger, Wong’s photography is an “eloquent documentation of complex and evolving communities, neighborhoods that exist not for tourists, but as cultural, political, and historic sanctuaries for the Asian-American community.”
