Planning Your Guided Group Visit
The Portland Chinatown Museum offers docent-led group tours by reservation during our normal business hours:
Thursday through Sunday, 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
The Museum has two main exhibition spaces; our front gallery features contemporary Asian American art, and our large back gallery houses our permanent exhibition, Beyond the Gate: A Tale of Portland’s Historic Chinatowns. Beyond the Gate highlights the history of Portland’s Chinatowns from 1850 to 1965, covering immigration and early Chinese settlement in Oregon, the legacy of Chinese railroad workers, the impact of the Chinese Exclusion Act, early Chinese American entrepreneurs, and the building of Chinese American civic and community life in Portland.
Docent-led tours are approximately 60 minutes long, and are recommended for ages 12 and up. Larger groups of more than 15 visitors will be split into smaller tour groups.
PRICING: $50 per tour group, plus the cost of individual admissions. Please note that school visits must be accompanied by an educator and chaperones will be required for larger groups.
To schedule a group tour, please submit the following form at least 2 weeks in advance of your visit. Forms submitted on short-notice (less than two weeks in advance) may still be considered, but docent availability is not guaranteed. If you have any questions, please email us at info@portlandchinatown.org.
